Amplify Your Impact with Ride United

November 21, 2024

You can boost the number of weekly deliveries of shelf-stable food to our neighbors facing hunger for as little as $4.50.

BACKGROUND

United Way’s Ride United: Last Mile Delivery (RULMD) initiative, in partnership with DoorDash, is a successful national program fulfilling food insecurity needs. United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County brought the program to our community in the fall of 2020. Each week, Dashers pick up bags of shelf-stable food organized by Pantry Partners like the Food Bank of Lincoln and deliver them at no cost to neighbors who are unable to access food on their own, including veterans.

CURRENT UNMET NEED

Thanks to funding from United Way Worldwide as well as generous community donors, Ride United was making an average of 80 deliveries each week last year, for a total of 3,240 deliveries. Due to a decrease in funding, we are currently only able to make 15 deliveries each week for just over 1,000 total projected deliveries. We know there is unmet need in our community, and it is our desire to expand this program.

AMPLIFIED IMPACT

United Way is raising $20,000 to cover the cost of deliveries for Ride United. Thanks to a generous discount from DoorDash, each delivery costs just $4.50. Raising $20,000 would help facilitate nearly 4,500 additional deliveries for our neighbors.
