United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County (UWLLC) is committed to protecting the privacy of our donors and ensuring a safe and secure giving experience. This policy outlines UWLLC’s commitment to respecting donor privacy and explains how we collect, use, protect, and disclose personal information.
We may collect and store the following information from you, including, but not limited to:
UWLLC will not disclose, sell, share, trade, or rent to others any personal information collected. We will use our best efforts to comply with the expressed wishes of any donor who does not want their information used in any promotional material; wishes their name removed from solicitation lists; or wishes to have their contribution remain anonymous. We will collect, use, and share personal information only on a need-to-know basis and for the sole purpose of carrying out UWLLC’s mission. We will share information if required by law. In addition, we may share information where it is necessary to complete an authorized transaction. UWLLC may provide information to a donor’s payroll administrator for the purpose of payroll deduction set-up or to a secure online merchant bank to complete credit or debit card transactions. UWLLC may use your information for internal purposes, including communications about our organization. Donors have the right to opt out of our communications.
UWLLC has established and maintains security standards and procedures to protect donor information. We have installed a number of measures to protect the confidentiality of personal information. We utilize a Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) firewall to prevent unauthorized access to our systems, and pledge information resides on a separate database server behind this firewall. We safeguard this information with an encryption technology called Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Credit card information is securely encrypted and card numbers are deleted when no longer needed. Servers that store personal information are kept in a secure environment, and only UWLLC authorized employees are granted access to personal information. While UWLLC makes every effort, no security system is perfect and we cannot guarantee that information you provide will remain private or that information you transmit to us over the internet will not be intercepted.
