Labor Partners United

Labor Partners United is a NEW way for members of Labor and their allies to make a difference. Over the past two years, members of Labor worked alongside United Way to determine our community’s greatest needs and how Labor could help. Out of that process, it was determined that Labor Partners United will focus their support on the Northeast quadrant of Lincoln, where the presence of Labor intersects with opportunities to make a difference through four impact areas listed below.

Four Impact Areas of Labor Partners United

1. Basic Needs

We intend to fund Mobile Family Resource Centers, which are sort of like a pop up event, bringing resources to families in our neighborhoods so that they don’t have to take time off work or arrange childcare while they try to find resources for their family.

2. Extended Learning Opportunities

We intend to help fund the Community Learning Center at Dawes Middle School. Activities in this area will take place in conjunction with Workforce Development.

3. Your Behavioral Health

We intend to fund a part-time therapist at Dawes Middle School to work directly with those students and families who would otherwise not have access to any form of support.

4. Workforce Development

We intend to work with Dawes Middle School to arrange for members of Labor to give students exposure to a variety of trade and non-trade jobs; and help them understand the course and degree requirements for future careers. Field trips and videos might also be incorporated.
