United Way welcomes three new partner agencies and seven new programs to our impact portfolio.

New Agencies

These three agencies are new to United Way’s investment portfolio, helping you have a greater impact when you give to United Way’s Impact Fund.

  • ECHO Collective helps refugee and immigrant women overcome the barriers that they face in rebuilding their lives here in Lincoln and Lancaster County. Their program called The Refinery provides refugee and immigrant women the opportunity to achieve economic independence and build social capital through business education and professional mentorships.
  • Educare Lincoln provides early childhood education to children and families. Their program called Early Childhood Education: Preparing Children for Kindergarten and Lifelong Success utilizes research from early childhood development, education, social work and other allied fields to provide early education to under-resourced families in Lincoln.
  • NeighborWorks Lincoln is a non-profit community housing development organization. Their Homeownership Program provides a HUD-approved pre-purchase education course designed to help individuals and families make the complicated transition from renting to  stable homeownership.

New Programs

In addition to the programs operated by the new agencies listed above, programs at four long-term United Way partner agencies have been added to our investment portfolio to help you have a greater impact for our community.

  • Family Service Lincoln’s In Response Program provides housing assistance to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or fleeing domestic violence in the City of Lincoln.
  • Legal Aid of Nebraska’s UPLIFT: Using the Power of the Law to Influence and Foster Transformation is a collaboration between Legal Aid, the Center for Legal Immigration (CLIA), and three Lincoln area community centers to provide free civil legal services to low-income families in three high-poverty neighborhoods.
  • Lincoln Literacy’s FirstStep Healthcare Career Pathways provides a pre-CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) and CNA prep course to immigrant and refugee students interested in healthcare careers.
  • Malone Community Center’s Maternal Health and Wellness Program supports BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) families with pre- and post-natal care through its doula program, breastfeeding support group, and educational initiatives.
