Women in Philanthropy was created in 1999 to publicly recognize the impact women have on the economic viability and quality of life in our community. The council honors women who make annual Leadership Gifts to the United Way campaign.
Mission:
To inspire, educate, and engage women in philanthropy, community service, advocacy, and mentoring in order to positively impact the lives of people and our community.
Level of Giving:
This is an opportunity for woman to make an impact on the quality of life in Lincoln and Lancaster County through support of United Way. These are women who take an active role in making our community a better place to call home.
- Women who give a donation of $500 - $999 during the United Way Campaign receive the designation of Women in Philanthropy.
- Women who give a donation of $1,000 or more during the United Way Campaign receive the designation of Women Leader in Philanthropy.
- Women’s Leadership Council Supporter is any woman that gives a designated donation of $1,000 to the WLC initiative to help fund child care scholarships and supplemental food.
- Women’s Leadership Council Leader is any woman that gives a designated donation of $2,500 to the WLC initiative to help fund child care scholarships and supplemental food.
- All women that give a donation $500 or more are recognized as Women in Philanthropy.
- Emerging Leaders and Women in Philanthropy
With a donation of $500 - $999, individuals pledge to take their first step toward leadership.
- With a donation of $1,000 or more, women reach a level of Women “Leaders” in Philanthropy.
- Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) - New initiative in 2010
With a donation of $1,000 or $2,500 to the WLC Initiative, women are helping to provide child care scholarships and supplemental food for working families.
Goals:
- To increase awareness of services available to women in our community.
- To encourage involvement of women in the local business, professional, and public sector in the United Way campaign in partnership with Community Health Charities.
- To call attention to the positive impact women make on the health and economic viability of our communities.
- To increase Leadership Giving as a way to help the United Way campaign in partnership with Community Health Charities grow.
